Philip Berlinsky, the founding attorney of Philip Berlinsky Law, was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from Bishop England High School in 1981 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from The Citadel in 1986.
While at The Citadel, he was a recipient of the Commandants Distinguished Service Award, a member of the Freshman Training Cadre, a Kelly Cup Competition Drill Instructor and the 1986 India Company Commander. Mr. Berlinsky was also a member of the Inn of Court Pre-Law Society and routinely escorted dignitaries on campus.
One of Mr. Berlinsky’s assignments at this time was to escort United States Attorney General Griffin Bell. His true interest in practicing law began when Attorney General Bell encouraged him to seek admission to Mercer Law School, the Attorney General’s alma mater.
Mr. Berlinsky decided to apply to Mercer for the 1987 school year. During his time at Mercer, Mr. Berlinsky was Vice Master Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States.
ACCOLADES
Mr. Berlinsky was admitted into the South Carolina Bar in 1989 and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court in South Carolina. Along with being a member of the American Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar Association, his accolades include membership to the American Inns of Court and the South Carolina Association of Justice. Mr. Berlinsky was elected to the Board of Governors for the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, is a recipient of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association Presidents Award and served as a former chairman for the Insurance Claims Committee.
PERSONAL LIFE
Philip is happily married and is the father of 3 beloved boys. His wife, Shannon, graduated from the College of Charleston and obtained her master’s degree from The Citadel. Philip cherishes time spent with friends and family. Philip enjoys an active lifestyle with his family here in the low country and loves spending time on the water and weekends at the family’s country home.
